At Therapy with D, I recognize that the work of healing and care takes place on lands that have long been stewarded by Indigenous Peoples.
I acknowledge that I am located on the traditional territory of the Michi Saagig Anishnaabeg Peoples, including Curve Lake First Nation and Hiawatha First Nation. This land is known as Nogojiwanong—“the place at the end of the rapids”—now referred to as Peterborough.
I offer respect and gratitude to the Michi Saagig Peoples and their Ancestors, who have cared for this land since time immemorial and continue to do so today.
As a settler, I recognize that this acknowledgement is not a single statement but an ongoing responsibility. I am committed to continued learning, reflection, and unlearning of colonial frameworks within myself and my practice, and to being mindful of the ongoing impacts of colonization on Indigenous communities across Turtle Island.
This commitment is ongoing, imperfect, and held with humility.
